Whether poetry, prose, short
stories or articles on a great variety of subjects and naturally in the
pages of her books, you find her compassion, honesty yet also keen sense of
humor. The most important fact shining through is her passion for the
subjects which are close to her heart.
She and her husband, a free-lance photographer,
moved to the Azores after living on a small island off the South Coast of
MA.
“Birth of a Tumbleweed”
Memories of Growing-Up in
Post-Nazi Germany, takes a look back at the
history of millions of Germans. Born during or shortly after WWII they have
not been able to openly talk about their experiences. It is time to throw
off a burden that is not her generation’s responsibility to bear.
Personally she has been marginalized and vilified for her German roots even
though she herself lost relatives in Auschwitz and other close family
members during WWII.
Her message that civilians in ANY
war ANYWHERE in the world regardless of race, color or religion must be
granted a voice as well ought to resonate more than ever today. These are
human beings, not merely to be considered “collateral damage.”
This book followed her description
of country life in “Duck Soup,”
vignettes of her years in New Jersey while raising her sons and building
passive solar homes.
Aside from writing articles for
numerous newspapers and magazines nationwide ranging from travel articles to
social controversial topics, she was a regular contributor to the
German-based KinA Magazine, a bilingual magazine for teachers and children
learning German or parents wishing to raise bi-lingual children.
Inge Perreault founded the South
Coast Chapter of CLEAN POWER NOW in April of 2004 and is a staunch supporter
of clean renewable sources of energy.
Her book “FOR WOMEN ONLY – THE 50
PLUS ROLLER COASTER” is a collection of short stories aimed at the
baby-boomer generation. Funny, poignant, touching -describing experiences
this generation of women living in a youth-culture is faced with in a much
different fashion than their mothers were. She is likewise an outspoken
advocate for equal rights for women since the early 1970s.
After four very different careers
her move to the Azores was part of her continuing quest for simplicity, love
of nature and her natural curiosity of different cultures and linguistic
abilities her TUMBLEWEED nature have pursued all of her life.
She regularly teaches conversational
English at the Ponta Delgada Public Library on a pro-bono basis. Likewise
she goes into schools to partake in class discussions and to conduct
power-point presentations.
